When someone gets burned, you may see red or black skin, swelling, blisters, and peeling.
How can you help even if the doctor is far away?
1- Move them away from the source of the burn.
2- Cool the burn. Place the affected area under cool running water for at least 10minutes until the pain feels better. Don\’t use ice, gels or creams as this could damage the tissue and increase the risk of infection.
3- Gently remove the clothing or jewelry near the burn unless it is stuck to it.
4- Cover the area with a sterile non-adhesive bandage or cloth.
These four steps should help in most burn cases. However, if the burn is to the face, hands or feet, or if it is a child that is burned, or if the burn seems very large and serious, please call for help or take the person to the hospital as soon as possible.
