Stop the bleed. Save a life.

Did you know that a person can bleed to death within minutes? What you do when you notice someone is bleeding can save that person’s life. In any case of heavy bleeding, here are a few steps you can take:

  • Call emergency services immediately
  • Wear gloves (or cover your hands) and apply pressure directly to the wound
  • If an object is embedded in the wound, do not remove it. Instead apply pressure around the wound
  • Help the injured person lie down and raise the affected area above the heart to slow blood flow.
  • Keep them warm and wait for help to arrive.
